We will fund up to S$50,000 in exchange for a small equity stake.  We may consider higher level of funding if there is a good fit. Additionally, for the same project, start-ups may consider applying for similar start-up grants or co-funding from the various government agencies.
The funds should be used for the development of your idea, and to cover the operational expenses of your start-up.
Yes, you may. PSA unboXed is open to funding start-ups alongside other sources of funding.
We will be happy to evaluate all projects of interest, and will target to accept between 10 to 15 start-ups for this first year.

You will have opportunities to:

  • Access PSA’s Global Centres of Expertise and Container Port Domain Experts;
  • Co-Create with PSA by joining the eco-system of port equipment and solutions providers, our Technology Partners and our VC partners.
  • Validate your ideas in the world’s largest transhipment hub.
  • Expand your business to help power the future Tuas Megahub in Singapore; gain outreach into PSA’s global network of ports, as well as the larger maritime and port community.

We welcome ideas or innovations in 2 broad areas.

Firstly, we look for innovations that bring about improvements in container terminal operations, for example, increasing productivity, enriching customer experience and lowering cost.

In the second area, we welcome ideas or innovations that allow us to discover new spaces in logistics flow and supply chain.  We have descriptions on the type of innovations we are interested in and problem statements that describe our focus areas in more detail.

Your start-up should be a legally incorporated business entity and have an innovative idea that directly addresses one of our problem statements, or bring value to PSA or the wider supply chain.
We understand that you may not have incorporated your start-up as a legal business entity yet when applying for this program.

If your do not already have a legal business entity, you are required to incorporate one, prior to commencement of the program.

Multiple start-ups may do joint submissions, but there should only be one lead start-up to front the project.
Foreign entities may apply, but will not be eligible for additional funding top-ups given by the Singapore government.

Foreign start-ups may wish to legally incorporate the start-up as a Singapore-registered entity to be eligible for further funding opportunities.

Please visit Singapore Account and Company Regulatory Authority for more details.

Yes, shortlisted applications will be invited to pitch their ideas to the evaluation committee. This can be done in-person, or via video-conference.

Depending on the maturity of the idea or innovation, the incubation period may be up to 9 months.
We have available incubation spaces at PSA unboXed in Pasir Panjang Terminal Building 3 and an engineering bench at our newest engineering workshop in Pasir Panjang Maintenance Base where you will have easy access to the port environment to test your ideas.

We also have plans to co-locate with some partners at JTC LaunchPad @ one-north, a vibrant, nurturing environment for start-ups and incubators.

The evaluation committee will pair mentors with start-ups based on the nature of start-ups and the experience and expertise of mentors.
Depending on your idea, you can envisage yourself working alongside our colleagues in engineering, IT, operations, or even with other port users.
At the beginning of the incubation program, PSA unboXed will work with start-ups to jointly agree on project milestones, dates and deliverables. Start-ups will be evaluated on how well the milestones have been met.
At PSA’s discretion, PSA may offer more funding, additional collaboration and/or test-bedding opportunities within PSA terminals globally.
When the start-ups have developed products which are ready to market, PSA will be happy to explore commercial arrangements with them.
